Samantha is linked to the London Tube Bombings of 2005, and, to terror in Mombassa in Kenya.

Her father was a soldier in the UK military.

Her parents separated when she was 11.

There is a suspicion that Samantha works for military intelligence (MI5 or MI6).

She may have been brainwashed.

As a teenager, she wore make-up and dresses, and went to parties with her friends; she allegedly converted to Islam.

While studying for a degree in religion and politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London she met Jamaican-born Germaine Lindsay, a fellow Moslem convert.

Germaine Maurice Lindsay had links to drugs crime.

There is a suspicion that he was protected by the police and the security services.

The police failed to follow up an armed incident at a flat involving a car used by Lindsay. (7/7 inquests: police failed.)

‎Lindsay had a conviction for importing drugs.

CCTV of the car could not be used "because it was obscured by a Bedfordshire police poster."

The investigating officer went on holiday and then went on a residential training course.

Eventually Lindsay's car was found at Luton railway station as part of the investigation into the July 7 bombings.

Allegedly, Germaine Lindsay was one of the 2005 London Tube Bombers and died at King's Cross in London.

After the 7 July bombings, Samantha was placed by the authorities in a ‘safe house’.

Police in Kenya say they have found Samantha Lewthwaite's luxury villa in the holiday resort of Mombassa in Kenya.

They suggest she was involved in a plot to blow up hotels and shopping centres in Mombassa.

She has a South African passport under the name of Natalie Faye Webb.


Police believe that the people living at the Mombassa villa were Samantha Lewthwaite and Habib Ghani, who is originally from Hounslow, in the UK.

The Landlord, Nelson Korir, said the man called himself Mark and spoke with an English accent.

He said three children were with the couple.

He said the woman wore western clothing and didn't cover her head.

MAATHAI VERSUS THE IMF AND WORLD BANK

Professor Wangari Maathai (Nobel laureate and environment‎alist) was born in the central highlands of Kenya in 1940.

Back in the 1940s, her small village had clean water, rich soils, rich forests and plenty of food.

"It was heaven. We wanted for nothing," she said.

"Now the forests have come down, the land has been turned to commercial farming, the tea plantations keep everyone poor, and the economic system does not allow people to appreciate the beauty of where they live."

Maathai said: "After my education by the nuns, I emerged as a person who believed that society is inherently good and that people generally act for the best."

Maathai won a scholarship to study in the US, as part of the 'Kennedy airlift' in which 300 Kenyans - including Barack Obama’s father - were chosen to study at American universities in 1960.

After further study in Germany, she returned to a newly independent Kenya in 1966.

Her early work as a vet took her to some of Kenya's poorest areas.

She saw first-hand the damage that was being done to the environment.

In 1977, she set up the Green Belt movement.

She became critical of politicians in Kenya, the World Bank, the IMF, Britain and other former colonial powers.

What began as a few women planting trees became a network of 600 community groups.

They looked after 6,000 tree nurseries, which were often supervised by disabled and mentally ill people in the villages.

By 2004, more than 30 million trees had been planted, and the movement had branches in 30 countries.

In Kenya, the Green Belt movement has become an agricultural advice service, a community regeneration project and a job-creation plan.

In the early 1990s, Maathai set up Mazingira, the Kenyan Green Party.

Maathai became a junior environment minister between January 2003 and November 2005.

On 6 April 2011, in Britain's High Court, five Kenyans will accuse the British government of torture, including castration.

The three men and two women say that, in the 1950s, they suffered castration, sexual abuse and severe beatings in detention camps run by the UK government.

Britain's Times newspaper has said that 300 boxes of documents showing efforts by Britain to put down insurgency were discovered when the High Court ordered the government to produce all relevant evidence.

Historians estimate as many as 150,000 suspected members of the Mau Mau resistance movement were detained without trial between 1952 and 1960.

BRITAIN'S FASCIST BEHAVIOUR IN KENYA

Five Kenyans reportedly tortured during the independence uprising are to issue a reparations claim against the British government.

The three men and two women say they were variously beaten, raped and castrated during the Kenyan "emergency" from 1952 to 1960.

Ndiku Mutua was aged about 20 when he was castrated.

Mutua was a cattle hand working for a white farmer.

He and some of his pals stole three cows and gave them to Mau Mau independence fighters living in the forest.

The district commissioner sent "home guards" to punish them.

He said:

"They broke my jaw and both my wrists, and were beating me on the shins and scalp.

"I was beaten until I was unconscious then they held me down and castrated me with pliers.

"When I came round I was in a lot of pain and that pain continues to this day. Four of us escaped but the other three bled to death.

"I had not taken the Mau Mau oath, but I took it after that. They were fighting for our land and against oppression and I had felt like a slave.

"I still suffer from dizzy spells and pain."

It has been suggested that 150,000 Kenyans were held in British detention camps.

Caroline Elkins suggests that 130,000 to 300,000 people are unaccounted for.

In KENYA, the British used beatings, sexual humiliation, hooding, sleep deprivation, and bombarding with white noise.

32 Whites were killed by the Mau Mau during the five-year state of emergency.

More whites died in traffic accidents in the capital city, Nairobi.

Kenyans were forced into concentration camps and routinely tortured.

Some 150,000 Africans died as a direct result of the British policy.

There was a "constant stream of reports of brutalities by police, military and home guards", wrote Canon Bewes, a British missionary.

"Some of the people had been using castration instruments and two men had died under castration."

Other brutalities included slicing off ears, boring holes in eardrums, flogging people to death, pouring paraffin over suspects and setting them alight and burning eardrums with cigarettes.

A British district officer admitted, "There was outright abuse of power and some of the crimes committed were horrific. One day six Mau Mau suspects were brought into a police station in the neighbouring district to mine. The British police inspector in charge lined them up against a wall and shot them."

A mobile gallows travelled the country. Over 1,000 were hanged, their bodies displayed at crossroads and market places.

Food Price Crisis

On 15 May 2009, the BBC World Service index of retail food prices showed that basic food prices worldwide have gone up 8% in the last 10 months. (Food prices vary but crisis remains)

The index is based on eight cities, including Washington, Nairobi and Buenos Aires.

In Nairobi, in Kenya, where many people earn only one US dollar a day, there was a rise of almost 50% in the price of food in the last 10 months.

The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation index shows food prices nearly 50% higher than in 2003. The price of cereals is up 80% since 2003.

ActionAid International predicts that about 17 million people in Kenya are now in danger of starvation.



"Agricultural yields in Africa have... fallen in some cases by up to 50 per cent as a result of invasive pests, land degradation, erosion, drought and climate change, according to the report, released .... by the UN Environment Programme...

"Reversing environmental degradation and 'investing in ... forests, soils and water bodies is one part of the ... solution...The other key is managing them and the food chain in far more efficient ways.'

"Over half of food produced worldwide is lost, wasted or discarded as a result of inefficiency..."
