Rakesh Maria, Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police.

A key figure in the trial of Kasab, in connection with the Mumbai attacks, is Rakesh Maria.

Reportedly, Rakesh Maria played a role in sending Karkare and colleagues to the area where they were shot.

Karkare was murdered after investigating the links between the 'terrorists' and elements of the Indian military and police.

Reportedly:

Anti Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Inspector Vijay Salaskar were at home when they heard about the 'terrorist' attacks.

Joint commissioner of police Rakesh Maria, who was at the control room, directed Salaskar to the Cama Hospital.

On his way, Salaskar met Karkare and they headed towards Special Branch Office at Dhobi Talao, right behind the Cama Hospital. Kamte joined them there.

The three of them got into a vehicle.

They intercepted a 'terrorist'.

Someone sprayed bullets from an AK-47 hitting Salaskar, Karkare, and Kamte.

"The earliest reports, presumably relayed from the police via the media, said that Karkare had been killed at the Taj, and Salaskar and Kamte at Metro...

"Later we were given two accounts of the killings where the venue was shifted to a deserted lane without cameras or eye-witnesses...

"A careful scrutiny of all the reports available so far suggests, to this writer anyway, that the killing of Karkare was a premeditated act executed by his self-proclaimed enemies, some of whom had prior intelligence of the attack on the hotels and planned their own attack to coincide with it.

"The operation in Cama, in particular, seems to have had the sole objective of luring Karkare into the lane where he was later reportedly killed."

Lt Colonel Srikant Purohit, from Indian military intelligence, was reportedly involved in organising several terrorist blasts.

According to Raveena Hansa:

"Hemant Karkare was engaged in unearthing a terror network with characteristics which had not been seen so far.

"The investigation started by tracing the motorcycle used to plant bombs in Malegaon in September 2008 to a Hindu Sadhvi, Pragyasingh Thakur; it later uncovered a cellphone conversation between her and Ramji, the man who planted the bombs, in which she asked why more people had not been killed.

"For the first time, the Indian state was conducting a thorough professional probe into a terror network centred on Hindu extremist organisations, this one with huge ramifications, some leading into military and bomb-making training camps and politicised elements in the army, others into organisations and political leaders affiliated to the BJP.

"One of the most potentially explosive discoveries was that a serving military intelligence officer, Lt.Col. Srikant Purohit, had procured 60 kg of RDX from government supplies for use in the terrorist attack on the Samjhauta Express (the India-Pakistan ''Understanding' train) in February 2007, in which 68 people were killed, the majority of them Pakistanis.

"Initially, militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba and other Islamist terror groups had been accused of carrying out the attack, but no evidence against them had been found."

It was Rakesh Maria who interviewed Azam Amir Kasab, 21, allegedly the sole Mumbai gunman to be taken alive

Kasab is now on trial.

“In those first moments he was in our custody, I had just four questions,” Mr Maria told The Times. “How many terrorists? How well armed? What were their plans? How did they get here?”

...The police chief quickly got his answers: 10 terrorists armed with AK56 automatic rifles (the Chinese version of the AK47), pistols, grenades and other explosives had arrived by sea from Pakistan, Mr Kasab told Mr Maria...

His investigation... is enormously ambitious in its reach and many onlookers believe it has one over-riding aim: the establishment of Pakistani state involvement in the Mumbai attacks.

The judge has sacked Kasab's defence lawyer because the lawyer has links to a potential prosecution witness.

So, Kasab has no legal representation.

During the trial, Kasab appears "unable to follow the proceedings."

According to the TIMES OF INDIA (9 10 01): In the summer of 2001, General Mahmoud Ahmad, chief of the US trained Pakistan intelligence service, arranged for $100,000 to be given to Mohammed Atta (alleged hijacker on 11 Sept).

General Mahmoud arrived in the USA on 4 September 2001 and, over the days that followed, had regular consultations with his counterparts at the CIA and Pentagon.

He was being investigated for terrorism.



Ken Haywood's computer was used to send a "terrorist" e-mail minutes before bomb blasts in Ahmedabad, in July 2008.



Reportedly, Haywood has links to Abdur Subhan Qureshi, alias Taufique Bilal and Tauqir, reportedly the top terrorist in India.

It was used in an article by Ralph Peters entitled "Blood Borders: How a Better Middle East Would Look," published in Armed Forces Journal.



A senior Pakistani government official has said that "One of the biggest fears of the Pakistani military planners is the collaboration between India and Afghanistan to destroy Pakistan. Some people feel the United States is colluding in this." (Redrawn map has Pakistan wary)



Some commentators suggest that the United States is financing militants in order to tie down the Pakistani army and leave the way open for an American advance into Pakistan.





On 3 December 2008, at Al Ahram Weekly, Abdus Sattar Ghazali wrote 'Behind the scenes' (Cached)



He tells us about the US-UK-Israel agenda for the Middle East and South Asia region.



Among the points made:



1. The Global Trends 2025 report by Thomas Fingar, US deputy director of national intelligence for analysis, suggests that Pakistan may become much smaller.



2. The New York Times reported on a "New Middle East" map published in 2006 by the US Air Force Journal along with an article by retired Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters, entitled, "How a better Middle East would look?" The map and Peters suggested that a 'natural' Pakistan would be much smaller than today.



3. It can be argued that redrawing the map, from the Lebanon and Syria to Anatolia, Arabia, the Persian Gulf, the Iranian Plateau and South Asia is part of a longstanding Anglo-American and Israeli agenda.







4. "Constructive chaos" (violence and war) is the means to gradually achieve this objective.



5. There is a rapidly deteriorating situation in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in the wake of frequent US missile attacks and Pakistan's military operations.



The FATA region, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was peaceful before the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.



The commander of US forces in Afghanistan, General David McKiernan, was asked by a group of parliamentarians meeting with him at the residency of the US ambassador in Islamabad: Why did you Americans come to Afghanistan when it was so peaceful before you got there?



6. Some commentators suggest that the US is financing the Taliban. The point is to bog down the Pakistani army, they say, leaving the way open for the Americans to grab Pakistan's nuclear weapons.



Recently, in the officers' mess in Bajaur, the northern tribal region where the Pakistani army is stuck fighting militants, one officer offered his own theory: Osama bin Laden did not exist, he told a visiting journalist. Rather, he was a creation of the Americans, who needed an excuse to invade Afghanistan and encroach upon Pakistan.

Reportedly, a Pakistan government report was leaked to local television networks in Pakistan.

According to the television networks, the government report says that investigators have concluded that the attacks were planned in a European country and Dubai over the Internet, and that the planners used Bangladesh for logistical support. Iqbal Mirchi lives in Hornchurch, in England.

Iqbal Mirchi is wanted by police in India for murder and his part in a terrorist bombing campaign.

He is allegedly among the top 50 global drug barons; according to the US authorities he is the right-hand man of Dawood Ibrahim, head of the 'D' company, a worldwide mafia.

Bombs in Mumbai in 1993 killed over 300 people. Mirchi's name was linked to the bombings.

According to Mirchi: 'a senior police officer told me that my name would be attached to false charges unless I paid millions of rupees in bribes. I refused and moved to Dubai. '

Mirchi admits having met Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai.

Dawood has been described as 'the most dangerous man in the world'. As well as drugs and terrorism, the D company is involved in gold smuggling, gambling, counterfeit currency, diamond trading, contract killing, extortion and film financing. It is said to have a 60 per cent stake in the Bollywood film industry.

Dawood is also known to have met Osama Bin Laden and, in the aftermath of 9/11, allowed his smuggling network to be used to enable senior al-Qaeda operatives to flee Afghanistan.

According to South Asia tribune, "The UAE is regarded as the hub of the Dawood syndicate — its operations in Dubai, for instance, have been well-entrenched for over a decade."

Nepal is where alleged Mumbai gunman Kasab is reported to have been detained by the Indian authorities in 2006. Dawood Ibrahim and the CIA are reported to be in business together in Nepal.

"Dawood Ibrahim is a regular visitor to Nepal. He was last seen in Kathmandu in the last week of August 2003. Officials told the South Asia Tribune that during that visit, Dawood met his front man Sartaj Ahmed and leaders of some fundamentalist organizations.

"Though Dawood has restricted his international movements, his front man Sartaj is in constant touch with officials of the Pakistani Embassy. He was recently spotted near Tundi Khel playground in Kathmandu with a Pakistani diplomat...

"Dawood has big financial stakes in Nepal. He has made huge investments in a variety of business ventures, from media, private airlines, hotels, travel agencies to trans-border smuggling including that of gold.

"New Delhi is learnt to have provided documentary evidence to the Nepalese authorities on ISI’s alleged involvement in training and arming the Maoists to continue their rebellious activities against the monarchy in collaboration with the ultra Left outfits of India."

A Pakistani lawyer C M Farooque claims that alleged Mumbai gunman Ajmal Kasab, and almost 200 other people, were arrested by the Indian and Nepalese authorities in Nepal before 2006.

Farooque said that at a press conference in Nepal he had revealed that the Nepalese forces had held Ajmal Kasab and the others at an unknown place and that these people "would be used for their ulterior designs at some later stage".

When bombs go off in India there is a tendency to blame Moslems.

However, the evidence points to the terror being the work of people within the Indian military, the Hindu fascist movement, and the CIA and its friends.

The September 2006 Malegaon bombings were a series of bomb blasts that took place in Malegaon, a town in the Indian state of Maharashtra, some 290 km to the northeast of Mumbai.

The explosions killed at least 37 people.

According to Maharashtra Police, in November 2006, the blasts were the work of the Student Islamic Movement of India.[1]

However, on 8 November, 2008, the Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad revealed that Lt Colonel Srikant Purohit of the Indian military was involved in a blast that killed people in Malegaon in September 2007.

In The Pakistan Spectator, 21 September 2008, Ali Yar Khan asks What Was Going on in the Marriott Hotel?

He makes the following points:

1. After the blast, a mysterious fire started on the fourth and fifth flours. It was said that this fire was the result of a gas pipeline burst.

2. Allegedly, the fifth and fourth floors of the hotel were housing mysterious steel boxes under the guard of United States marines. Allegedly, these boxes were moved into the hotel when Admiral Mike Mullen met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and others in Islamabad.

In 2003, a bomb hit the Marriott hotel in Jakarta. A number of poor Moslems were killed.

"Something interesting happened just hours before the explosion shocked the JW Marriott Hotel, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta. The US Embassy cancelled the booking of 10-20 rooms in that hotel." -Prison Planet.com: Do You Have the Knowledge to Escape?

On 20 September 2008, at least 60 people were killed, and scores seriously injured, when, reportedly, an explosives laden truck was used against the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan. (Car bomb attack in Islamabad leaves at least 60 people dead)

It was reported that several senior officers of the CIA were in Islamabad, on a visit, at the time of the explosion. (Islamabad blast)

According to Dawn, 21 September 2008, "Well-equipped security officers from the US embassy were seen on the spot soon after the explosions. However, they left the scene shortly afterwards." (Terror tears through capital)

Muhammad Azam, a Marriott security personal, told The Post that he was standing across the road when a big brown truck appeared. "I saw him (the truck driver) getting out of the truck, taking position and firing two rockets at the hotel." (Front & Back Page News Updates)

The explosion created a crater at least 25 ft deep and 30 ft wide, and totally destroyed the road in front of the building. (1000 kg explosives used in Pak blast) .

The aim of the blasts seems to have been to kill ordinary Pakistanis, so as to make Pakistanis and World Opinion sympathetic to America's war on terror.

The bombers may not have intended to destroy the hotel. But, reportedly, gas lines running to the hotel’s kitchen exploded and started a fire that damaged about two thirds of the hotel. Acording to Jason Burke at The Guardian, 20 September 2008, (Islamabad blast is a victory for no one):

"The attack at 8pm would have come just as hundreds were sitting or standing in the hotel's many function rooms for the communal iftar dinner – the breaking of the Ramadan month's fast.

"Almost all of those killed will be local Pakistanis...

"Strikes on such targets – such as in Amman, Jordan, in 2005 – drastically undercuts support for militants."

Some officials said the intended destination of the truck with the bomb might have been the prime minister’s house. The Marriott is one kilometer distant from Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s house where President Asif Ali Zardari, army chief General Ashfar Parvez Kayani and over 300 MPs were at an Iftar dinner. However, Kiyani has been trained in the USA. And Zardari is reportedly a friend of the neocons.

One report suggests that the American neocons toppled Mussharraf and put Zardari into power.

In the Guardian, 7 September 2008, Tariq Ali wrote that "a hardcore neocon faction led by Zalmay Khalilzad, the US ambassador to the Security Council, was busy advising Asif Zardari in secret and helping him plan the campaign to oust the general (Musharraf)." On 10 January 2009, at The Daily Times, we read:



A question of evidence by Shaukat Qadir



(Qadir is a retired brigadier and former vice president and founder of the Islamabad Policy Research Institute IPRI)

Among the points made:

1. The Indian government has handed over to Pakistan the 'evidence' collected regarding the alleged involvement of Pakistani personnel in the Mumbai attacks.

Reportedly, this is Kasab, and he may not be from Pakistan.



2. The evidence consists of:



(1) a 'confession' by Ajmal Kasab, in which he has named his nine companions in the attack and



(2) a letter to the Pakistani High Commissioner in India, seeking his help as a Pakistani citizen.



3. Both these documents are in Hindi.



It is highly unlikely that Kasab, a 'Pakistani', whose natural language would be Urdu, would write to the high commissioner, in his own hand, in Hindi, even if he had learnt the language.



"That is the first thing that makes both these documents suspect."



4. "It would be natural for Pakistani authorities to assume that the confession was made under duress; which would make it inadmissible in any court."



5. Kasab’s confession names only the nine companions killed by Indian security forces.



"It would be a physical impossibility for ten individuals to attack nine different locations simultaneously, wreak the havoc they did, hold people hostage, and successfully hold off against the hordes of Indian security forces for sixty-two hours."

6. After obtaining Kasab’s 'confession', India initially accused Maulana Masood Azhar, a Pakistani 'militant' and the founder of the group Jaish-e-Mohammed, based mainly in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT which works in Kashmir) was not on India’s list.



Now, reportedly, Kasab has named Lakhvi.



7. India refers to 'decoded Skype phone calls' made over the internet; Pakistani cell telephone numbers of individuals that the attackers supposedly spoke to; and T-shirts, shaving creams, toothpaste etc. recovered from the hijacked boat they came ashore in, which are of Pakistani origin.



Any court of law would not accept this as sufficient prima facie evidence to consider the individuals India has named as 'accused'.

Hamid Gul and Mumbai

On 3 January 2009, at Gulf News, Fasihur Rehman Khan wrote: 'We are paying a huge price for US friendship'

Among the points made:

1. Lieutenant General (retired) Hamid Gul, former chief of Pakistan's spy agency ISI, believes that the Mumbai attacks are part of a conspiracy by the USA, Israel and India to get rid of Pakistan's nuclear weapons.

"The ultimate goal .... is to declare us an ungovernable state" not fit to have a nuclear arsenal.

"This scenario will give security to Israel, weaken China, and (allow)... India (to become the) dominant power of the region.

According to Gul, American neoconservatives want India to help protect Israel.

2. According to Gul: "Around 60 per cent of the world's trade passes through the Indian Ocean.

"The Indians believe they should have hegemony not only over Pakistan but the entire Indian Ocean.

"That means the Arabs will suffer, Iran will suffer and Gulf oil, bound for China and Japan, will be under the shadow of India's sole nuclear power...

"Americans and Israel is and hell-bent that India should be given pre-eminence in the region."

3. The USA built up the Afghan mujahideen and then abandoned them. This turned Gul against the USA.

Gul supports the resistance against the US occupation in Afghanistan and in Iraq.

According to Gul: "It is absolutely in line with Article 3 of the UN Charter that oppressed and enslaved nations have a right to rise in arms."

4. Gul is seen as being an opponent of Zardari's Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

Gul believes that the Zardari-led government has taken over power on the basis of a deal.

"Those who think that this PPP government has come on the basis of elections, are simply unaware.

"No... it came as a deal which had earlier taken place. and so these people had been handed down an agenda. They are moving in accordance to that agenda."

5. Asked about Mumbai, Gul said: "There are non-state actors like the American CIA operating freely in Pakistan. I don't know what game they are playing. For all you know, they may have used their clout here, trained some people and launched them in Mumbai.

"The Special Service group, Spider group, India's RAW [Research and Analysis Wing], Israeli Mossad - everybody is playing their games here.

"We also have Blackwater here to train us. You think they will only train our people or train some people who act on their behalf too. Who has gained from Mumbai aftermath?"

6. Gul thinks the US is undergoing an economic meltdown.

"In my assessment, by late 2009, Obama would realise that either he has to abandon his agenda of change or find a way out for disengagement from external commitments [military operations]. Not entirely but partially."

FBI : Ajmal Kasab has no links to Pakistan

An FBI team investigating the Mumbai attacks' case has said that the alleged main culprit, Ajmal Kasab, has no links with Pakistan.

The five-member team headed by the agency's South Asian Department Director, William Robert, visited the remote town of Faridkot, the place India claims Kasab is a resident of.

However, the team members said that there was no connection between Kasab and the town, a Press TV correspondent reported.

"No evidence could be collected from the area which could confirm the claim of Ajmal Kasab's being Pakistani", the FBI investigators said on Wednesday.

5. The attackers in Mumbai were clean shaven, wearing arm bands and drinking.

Hemant Karkare had unmasked Hindu extremists involved the Samjhota Express carnage and the Malegon massacre.

He had arrested Col Purohit and a major, both serving in Indian military intelligence of India.

Karkare was sent to a place away from the Taj and Oberoi hotels. He was then killed.

That's why his family did not accept any grief sharing sentiments from government representatives.

Mr. Antulay, India's Minister for Minorities, called for an independent inquiry into the Karkare shooting.

Mukhtar Ahmed is an Indian police operative who reportedly provided cell phone SIM cards to the terrorist group blamed for the Mumbai attacks.
