IK with Tatiana and Kaone after the eviction
BIG BROTHER SENDS KAONE & TATIANA BACK!
It was eviction time on M-Net’s Big Brother All Stars for the first time on Sunday (July 25 at 20:00) – but true to form, Big Brother had a twist for the housemates as two left the house – but then went right back! Kaone and Tatiana experienced an emotional rollercoaster ride as they were plucked from the house after just one week and spent some time on stage with IK, before Big Brother sent them back to their relieved housemates.
The show kicked off with a blistering performance by Nigerian star Mayé Hunta, who sang African Star – the new Big Brother All Stars song. IK then gave viewers the low-down on what’s been happening in the house this week – and what a first week it’s been. A spectacular launch show, laughing, singing, dancing, nominations, arguing, losing their first task and going on strike – the All Stars are making this season of Big Brother an unforgettable one!
Soweto dance group Amapantsula took to the stage next before IK gave viewers a demonstration of the ‘lie detector’ which Big Brother will use to help determine whether the housemates are being truthful or not, especially useful given the housemates are tasked with discovering each others ‘secrets’ this season.
IK then took viewers into the house to break the news of the first eviction to the housemates. Slowly, he reeled off a list of names, telling each of them that they were safe. Sheila, Hannington, Jen, Yacob, Code, Lerato, Mwisho, Sammi, Paloma and Meryl all discovered that they would stay in the house for another week. With 10 housemates safe, Tatiana, Kaone, Munya and Uti found themselves in the firing line.
After a dramatic pause, IK announced that the first housemate to leave the Big Brother All Stars house would be Botswana’s Kaone. After sharing his goodbyes with his All Star housemates, K-1 left the house and joined IK on stage. He told the continent that he had no idea why he was the first person out of the house and answered IK’s question about whether he would have done anything differently: “Nah – I’m a consistent person!” he said.
Before IK shared the name of the next housemate to leave the All Stars house, Uganda’s Daniel Omara took a look at the funnier side of Big Brother All Stars before South African singer Camagwini wowed the crowd with her hit Imvumi.
After that, it was back to business. IK told Munya and Uti they were safe – before telling Tatiana that she was the second housemate to be evicted this week. The shocked housemates could only hug her goodbye while outside, Kaone looked wide-eyed at the crowd and held his hands up in disbelief.
Joining IK on stage, the Angolan said it was ‘very strange’ that Africa had evicted her from the house so early. Asked if she would like to go back into the house, she said: “Of course, yes, especially after what happened yesterday. I’m sure Kaone as well, he wants to go back to that house because yesterday was a very emotional day, it was hard and we all stand together, for the first time I’ve seen in a Big Brother, housemates united. This happened last night. That’s why I feel I have to go back there.” She went on to say, “We were not violent – we didn’t hurt anyone, only the door. That was a demonstration, that we can be united and we can get what we want if we fight together,” she told IK before he sent her to sit alongside Kaone.
Last year on Big Brother Revolution, the Molotov Cocktail was introduced to give evicted housemates the chance to get their own back on the housemates still in the house. This year, the ‘Dagger’ performs the same function, with someone in the house, selected by a departing housemate, having to perform a task for a week. Kaone was first up, as IK read him his Dagger info. After all the housemates go to bed, one housemate, dressed in a French maid’s costume, must stay up and make sure the house is spotless before going to bed. Kaone looked right into the camera and said “Uti, Uti, you must start doing something with those hands!”
Tatiana was up next – her Dagger would see one housemate dressed like a pig, cleaning the toilet, bathroom and kitchen 3 times per day with earbuds and a toothbrush ‘to prevent the bathroom looking like a pigsty’. After a short pause for thought, Tatiana chose “Miss South Africa – Lerato”.
IK then sent Kaone and Tatiana off the stage – but as they were leaving, a siren sounded and Big Brother communicated with IK asking the housemates to stay on stage. After another performance by Amapantsula, IK broke the news to the continent – there was to be no eviction tonight! A delighted Kaone promised to “give it to you again, and better”, while Tatiana said “I am the sheriff, I have to go back to the house and I will come back with the US$200 000.”
Meanwhile Big Brother ordered the housemates still in the house into the garden and slowly revealed Tatiana and Kaone seated comfortably in the glass house in the garden. After giving the housemates some time to try and understand what was going on, the evictees were given the green light to head back into the house, where they were greeted with massive hugs.
With Tatiana and Kaone back in the Big Brother All Stars house, IK then took viewers on a tour of “The Barn” – an alternate house with an outdoor shower, a chicken coup, an outhouse and more than a few other quirks! A cryptic message in The Barn’s Diary Room told IK that Big Brother had the space available but had not yet taken a decision on what to do with it – but it did need to be filled. Stay tuned to see what Big Brother’s plans are for the housemates and The Barn!
