Dennie Banks is tired of being a "play by the rules" reporter covering weddings for her newspaper, she wants a big story that will propel her into the major leagues. The chance comes when she gets the inside scoop of a world famous feminist that has made her name on her successful views of life and marriage in the midst of a divorce and she sets out to get the story. Alec Prentice is a government agent specializing in fraud, agreeing to join his Aunt Victoria at a lecture where he is certain a wanted con-man is going to make an appearance. Alec meets Dennie and assumes she is part of the con while Dennie assumes that Alec is just a dumb womanizer. And chaos ensues.
You have the staples of any typical love story here - mistaken identities, many mishaps, and the inevitable main characters falling in love. However, Jennifer Crusie weaves a story full of unique characters that make you fall in love with them as they fall in love with each other. There are a handful of characters involved in this storyline and you find yourself interested in every one of them and what they are up to. It is all pretty predictable, but a truly enjoyable read. Highly recommended!
