Slumdog Scandal

Mumbai kids

In Bombay, the poor people get exploited by the politicians and officials.

MUMBAI: "In this city, where over half of the 15 million-plus residents live in slums, an army of unscrupulous officials, slumlords and politicians is engaged full-time in the ‘business’ of taking possession of government land, extorting money and renting out illegal structures in slum enclaves." - Our officials run slum racket: BMC

Jewish Hollywood has been exploiting poor Bombay kids.

Rubina appears in Slumdog.

She was paid just £500 for a year's work.

Azharuddin appears in Slumdog.

He earned £1,700.

Azharuddin's father Mohammed Ismail said: 'There is none of the money left. It was all spent on medicines to help me fight tuberculosis.'

The family live in a plastic tent on a government park after their illegal hut was destroyed by the authorities.

But a spokesman for distributor Fox Searchlight, a film division of 20th Century Fox, said that the children earned three times more than the average annual salary of an adult in their neighbourhood. - Slumdog actors scandal

"Following their taste of glamour the youngsters will return to the homes where they live in squalor on the outskirts of Mumbai." - From rags to riches in just three days.

"The parents of 8 year-olds Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, who play young Latika and Salim in the film, respectively, and are both still living in Mumbai slums, have accused the film's producers of underpaying their children. (The families also appear to be in the direst of straits: Rubina's father broke his leg during filming and has been out of work since, and Azharuddin's father has TB.)" - Slumdog Exploitasian Scandal?
