Breaking up Saudi Arabia?

In June 2006, Armed Forces Journal published this map from Ralph Peters, a prominent American strategist. www.oilempire.us/new-map.html

Saudi Arabia is mainly Sunni, but it has an 'unhappy' Shiite minority.

Rumour has it that the USA and Israel might eventually want to break up Saudi Arabia and grab Saudi Arabia's oil.

Saudi Arabia is aware of the power of Shiite Iran.

The Associated Press, on 1 April 2009, reported that the Saudi government is cracking down on Shiite dissidents

In the poor Shiite town of Awwamiya in Saudi Arabia, a cleric has threatened a break-away of his region from Saudi Arabia.

This Shiite area has an "increasingly restive religious minority".

And it lies on top of Saudi Arabia's main oil reserves.

Cleric Sheik Nimr al-Nimr has threatened to break away if Saudi authorities don't treat Shiites better.

Shiites make up 10 percent of the Saudi population of 22.6 million and they complain that they are barred from key positions in the military and government and are not given a fair share of the Saudi Arabia's wealth.
